J.M.Wilson Corporation is a Managing General Agency and a Surplus Lines Insurance Broker providing specialty insurance products to independent insurance agents for risks that are not insurable in the standard marketplace.

J.M. Wilson is responsible for representing the insurance company, marketing the insurance products made available to independent agents, underwriting the risks that are presented for the coverage, and providing the coverage that is desired.

J.M. Wilson services the independent agent and their client (the insured) throughout the time their policy with us is in force.  These services include issuing the insurance contract (the policy), processing changes to the policy after it is in force, providing answers to coverage questions, and helping the agent, insured and insurance company when there is a claim to be settled. We are also responsible for collecting premium from the agents and paying the companies along with many other functions that are ongoing.

In 1920, founder James M. Wilson opened his doors as a bond underwriter. Since then, we have grown to offer commercial transportation, property & casualty, personal lines and bonds. J.M. Wilson is still operated by the Wilson family with grandson David Wilson presiding and currently provides specialty insurance products to independent agents in Michigan, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
